After almost a week of Asia Poker League action in Vietnam, we can now bring you the result of the High Roller, all the latest from the Main Event, along with the latest side event winners.

The festival has seen some great poker and worthy winners, with thousands of dollars having changed hands in Ho Chi Minh City.

VND15,000,000 Main Event: Cao Ngoc Anh chip leader

The VND15,000,000 (US$648) Main Event got underway with the first of four day 1 starting flights taking place on October 6th. The entry numbers per flight were 24,18,111 and 212. With the combined fields from all day 1’s, the total entries reached 365, which was  almost enough to reach  the VND6,000,000,000 (US$259,173) Guarantee. By the end of day 2, just 99 survivors were still in contention.

The chip counts coming into the third day show that Vietnam’s Cao Ngoc Anh is leading the way with 330,500, closely followed by Kmen with 322,500.

VND22,000,000 1 Day High Roller – Winner: Jack Wu

The 1 day High Roller was one of the most interesting events on the APL Vietnam schedule, with a VND22,000,000 (US$951) helping to create a small, but talented to field to contest the trophy and prize money. The total number of entries stood at 41 when registration closed, with the prize pool rising to a final figure of VND795,400,000 (US$34,399).

By the time play had reached the heads-up stage, Alex Lee Xiang Wei from Singapore was left to face off against Taiwan’s Wu En Ching. Despite the best efforts of Wei, it was Ching who went on to emerge from the encounter as champion.

The VND8,800,000 (US$381) Deepstack began on October 8th, attracting a total of 45 entries and creating a prize pool of VND349,200,000 (US$15,102). Just 6 players went on to get paid with over VND130,000,000 set aside for the champion.

The heads up battle turned out to be an all-Vietnamese affair in the end, with China’s Zhang Jiheng having made way in 3rd place. Xa Que Nguyen worked hard to try to collect any sort of decent chip lead against Duong Minh Hai heads up, but never looked in control of the match. Minh Hai soon managed to extend his lead before finishing off his opponent to win the title.

In what has been one of the smaller fields of the series, the VND9,900,000 (US$428) attracted 31 runners, which was enough to see the prize pool reach VND270,630,000 (US$11,704). Four players went on to get paid, with over VND120,000,000 set aside for the winner.

The final exchanges of the event saw Thailand’s Wanchana Valaikanok go five places better than his 6th place finish in the previous one as he wore down his opponent heads up to take the victory and biggest slice of the prize pool.

The 7,700,000 (US$333) PLO also brought in a small field of just 23, gathering a total prize pool of VND156,170,000 (US$6,754). Of those who began the event, only 3 went on to cash, with Gyula Ryan Revai’s elimination in 3rd place bringing the action heads up. Before long, Taiwan’s Che Li Lim had followed Revai to the rail and Vietnam’s Nguyen Quang Minh was happily posing for a photo with his trophy.
